TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives In order to write an objective that is measurable, the following must be considered  The Institution’s Strategic Plan  The Institution’s Comprehensive Development Plan

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives In order to write an objective that is measurable, the following must be considered  Baseline Data  Department of Education Priorities  Department of Education APR

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives  The Strategic Plan (SP) and Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) establish the need for each Title III Activity  Each objective must address and answer a need addressed in the SP and/or CDP

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives Baseline data  In order to write a measurable objective, you must develop baseline data.  The baseline data should be established during the year before the writing of the application  The baseline data must be attached to the need and goals outlined in STP/CDP section of the application.

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives Prior to writing Objectives you must conduct the following Test: 1.What is the expected outcome? 2.Can the objective be measured? 3.How will you measure the objective?

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives Does this objective pass the test To strengthen the University’s sustainability by increasing annual support from funded grants and contracts by 5% each year of the five year budget period Performance Indicator(s): 1. The number of grant proposals submitted will increase by 5% each budget period. 2. The number of contracts submitted will increase by 2% each budget period.

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives Does this objective pass the test 1. By September 30, 2017, the student retention rate will increase by 20% (4% each budget period) from the base of 55%. Performance Indicator(s): 1. First year experience program in place by September 30, Second year experience program in place by September 30, 2017.

To assure that faculty and students are trained in developing, teaching, or completing the coursework successfully in online and hybrid classes by supporting faculty who are teaching and developing online courses through Blackboard Vista with technical support and design support. Performance Indicator(s): 1.1 At least 8 new faculty members will learn to develop courses in Blackboard Vista.

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives What is wrong? 1.1 Strengthen opportunities for student production and publication. Performance Indicator(s): 1.1 Increase computer, software and other resources available to students in the Writers’ Studio and the Media Production Studio

TCS-Prince Teal Writing Measurable Objectives What about specific task 1. Task should be written to cover the total five year period. 2. Don’t simply show that the same task will be repeated each year. 3. There must be several tasks for each individual mentioned in the budget.
