Training for Mortenson Associates l September 29, 2008 Digitization Standards and Processes Digitized more than 26 million pages of printed literature Complete, clean, high-quality, functional digital replicas of print materials that can be trusted and relied upon by content owners, libraries, and users 600 dpi bitonal TIFF 6.0 images for every page 300 dpi grayscale or color TIFF 6.0 images when bitonal images will not accurately replicate the original page Optical Character Resolution (OCR) files containing the full text for every scanned page and data that allows highlighting of corresponding words on the page image. These files are on average 99.5% accurate 1 1 Highly accurate descriptive metadata files using an adapted version of the NLM Journal Archiving and Interchange DTD which includes data for reference linking Beginning to accept digitized and digital-first materials produced by publishers, libraries, museums, and other content owners 8

This community effort combines a rich set of visual materials with scholar-selected primary source materials and what will be the world's largest collection of African rock art African Plants The African Plants Initiative (API) brings together more than 50 institutions in Africa, Europe, and the United States. The long-term goal is to build a comprehensive online research tool about African plants Struggles for Freedom in Southern Africa a collaboration of more than 100 prominent scholars, senior archivists, museum specialists, and engaged public intellectuals throughout the Southern African region and the world. The project is guided by regional and national committees, and supported by formal partnerships with many institutions
