Battle for Zendikar

The Vancouver Mulligan “After players have kept their opening hands, each player who kept fewer cards than his or her starting hand size looks at the top card of his or her library. That player may then put that card on the bottom of his or her library. (This is essentially the "scry 1" keyword action).” AP scries first, then NAP. This scry occurs as part of resolving Mulligans and happens before a player would take any special pre-game action such as putting a Leyline into play or revealing a Chancellor. How do you handle Serum Powder? How many mulligans do you take in Two-Headed Giant before being able to scry? How do you handle a player Scrying two? How do you handle a player drawing the top card instead of scrying?

Awaken “Awaken N—[cost]" means "You may pay [cost] rather than pay this spell's mana cost as you cast this spell" and "If this spell's awaken cost was paid, put N +1/+1 counters on target land you control. That land becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature with haste. It's still a land." I cast Sheer Drop for its Awaken cost and in response they Molten Rain my land. What happens? I attack with Narset, Enlightened Master. Sheer Drop is exiled. Can I use Sheer Drop to Awaken my land?

Devoid A card with devoid has no color in all zones. It has a color identity for Commander purposes. Color can be added to the card such as via Painter’s Servant, and the mana used to cast the spell is still considered that color of mana. Layers! If you cast Turn to Frog on a Dust Stalker, what color is the Dust Stalker?

Ingest Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, that player exiles the top card of his or her library. This is a non-detrimental triggered ability. The card is exiled face up, as all exiled cards are unless the exiling effect specifies otherwise. How do you handle a player forgetting this trigger? How do we handle a player putting it into their graveyard instead? If the creature has power 0 when it deals damage, what happens?

R/ally A non-detrimental tribal-based trigger. How do we handle missed triggers here? Does the card trigger for itself?

Zendikar Expeditions: Celebrate these These ultra rare cards are a special chase set included in some Battle for Zendikar packs. These special cards are only legal in the formats they were already legal in. They are not considered Standard legal by virtue of being included as an Expedition. Prices on these will vary wildly, but a basic guideline of $ is reasonable. Celebrate these. Point out to the players how cool and special these cards are. This is a positive way to let that player not to be taken of by trade sharks. Don’t let little Timmy be hustled at your event.
