What are we going to do today? Development a sample electronic portfolio Learn how to edit and collect video. You must take responsibility for the camera and to get video releases.

What needs to be in your Portfolio? YOUR BEST WORK The purpose of the portfolio is to display your best work. It will be used as the final evaluation for your student teaching experience. If done well you can also use it as a recruiting tool. What is in it? You will have Personal Information such as your Resume and Philosophy of Teaching, Lesson plans that demonstrate you can plan for a variety of teaching methods, Assessments that will show that you can assess students in a variety of ways and Movies demonstrating that can teach in a variety of ways. These will be organized in your portfolio by placing this information in each of these folders: Personal, Lessons (High School and Middle School), Assessments, and Movies. Here is what should be in each of the folders:

Personal Folder Your resume. Use the one that was developed on your career day. You can always update it as time goes on. Your Personal Philosophy of Teaching. What is teaching mathematics to you? What is a philosophy of teaching statement? A philosophy of teaching statement is a narrative that includes: キ your conception of teaching and learning キ a description of how you teach キ justification for why you teach that way Here are some links to help you:

Lessons Folder For each of your experiences you must show that you can plan lessons that: you can use technology you can use a variety of materials you can use group learning. you can use a variety of approaches. you can construct a discovery lesson where the students are activity involved.

Assessments Here you want you have evidence that you can assess in a variety of ways. Tests and Quizzes are one way, but have others such as rubrics and group work.

Movies Here you will have three different episodes of your teaching. You want to video tape lessons that are different. In these three clips you want to show that you can teach in more than one way. Your clips will be edited down into approximately 5 minutes. In the five minutes you want to show: The beginning of the lesson where you tell the students what you are going to do that day and how you set it your opening activity. The main part of the lesson. Give the viewer a idea of what happened during the main learning activity. The end. How did the lesson conclude.

Electronic Portfolio All You need is Word on your computer.

A website must have a starting page that links to other pages. Ours will be index.htm This is the Main Page This is where your lessons are. This is where your assessments go. This is where short Clips of your teaching are.

Building your web site. Getting Documents Ready to link: Convert all Word Documents to Web Pages. Then link them.

What to do now? Drag the folder Your Portfolio to your desktop. Convert all Word files to web pages. Throw out the Word files.

To convert to html format. All your Word Documents have to be converted to HTML

The Folder Your Portfolio

How it works Links go this way NOT this way

How To Link Documents  Open index.htm from Word by FILE -> OPEN (do not try to open it by double clicking, that will bring up Internet Explorer. Edit with Word - Display with Internet Explorer)
