Physical Needs What are some physical needs of food? Food supplies you with the nutrients you need to survive.

Nutrients: Chemical components of food necessary for the body: Provides energy Materials for growth Regulates chemical processes

Nutrition: The study of nutrients and how they are used in the body.

Wellness What do you think of when you hear the word wellness?

Wellness- a philosophy that encourages people to take responsibility for their own health. Wellness is reflected in both your attitudes and your behaviors.

Wellness decisions that influence your health include the following: The food choices you make The amount of physical activity you get How you manage your feelings and emotions How you handle certain social situations

Psychological Needs Security Belonging Emotions

Security Infants first learn to feel secure when they are fed, cared for and loved. Continuing to have an adequate amount of food to eat helps people build a lasting sense of security.
