What is an Earthquake? Y9 Geography

What is an Earthquake To understand how earthquakes are measured, recorded and classified To evaluate the short and long term impacts of an earthquake

Earthquakes 62Ti5_6s&feature=fvsr 62Ti5_6s&feature=fvsr An earthquake is the shaking and vibration of the Earth's crust due to movement of the Earth's plates (plate tectonics). Earthquakes can happen along any type of plate boundary

How are Earthquakes Measured? The power of an earthquake is measured using a seismometer. A seismometer detects the vibrations caused by an earthquake. It plots these vibrations on a seismograph. The strength of an earthquake is measured using the Richter scale.
