Obstacles Faced in Pursuit of the American Dream Directions for Group Presentation

Discuss the 4 Non-fiction Pieces Does every member of the group understand each piece? What is the purpose of each piece? What lines did you feel were important? Is your handout complete and are your pieces annotated?

Brainstorm Make a list of all the movies, books, works of art, articles, documentaries, songs, poems… that focus on your group’s issue. Think about: Historic Milestones Inspirational Individuals Attempts to overcome the obstacles in the past

Divide and Conquer Each group member must present the findings from one piece of the packet, as well as use another outside piece. (This means a minimum of two slides each.) It is my suggestion that the person who chooses the infographic should be responsible for creating the beginning/ending slides.

Naturally Flowing Presentation Your presentation must flow naturally from one person to the next and one slide to the next. Once each student has created his individual slides, decide on the order in which they should be presented. You MUST also have an introductory slide, final call to action slide, and works cited slide. (That’s three additional slides along with the two slides each group member needs to create.)

GRADES 90% of your grade is individual 10% of your grade is based on overall group presentation * Flow of slides and clear theme across genres * Clarity of the information presented * Creative and engaging slides * Presentation skills

NOW GET STARTED! ●Your group must use Google Presentations. One person will log into his or her gmail account, “create” a presentation, and share it with your other group members AND ME: You cannot begin your project until it is shared with ●Title your presentation with your class period and packet group. Ex: 6th Muslim Americans. ●This powerpoint is online, so use it to achieve the best group presentation possible. This is your last major grade. IMPRESS ME!
