Confucianism was started in China around the time of 500 B.C. Being thought of as more of a philosophy than a religion Confucianism has influenced many Chinese cultures.

Creator of Confucianism Confucius –Chinese philosopher –Spiritual leader Confucius developed Confucianism as a way to emphasize moral character in a persons life.

The Morals and Teachings of Confucius Confucius based his teachings off of honesty –Ritual: an act that can be preformed any day to keep people happy. –Relations: younger people should aide and respect the elderly, while the elderly should have some appreciation toward the young. The Analects of Confucius are the only remains that state the teachings of Confucianism.

Confucianism does not have a God, but they do consider Confucius their spiritual leader. Believed that all livings things were formed from original cosmic material, that was used to make the earth. The matter is made into a female or male and follows the behaviors according to Confucianism

Life and Death The afterlife: –Confucius said that he understood heaven –He had a relationship with heaven and told his people to take its benefits Confucius had the idea that life can be lived to the fullest by following all of his teachings.

Interesting Facts Confucius’ ideas were not accepted at first or during his whole lifetime, it wasn’t until after he died that his ideas were recognized. Even the people of Asia and China, where Confucianism is practiced don’t consider it to be a religion Approximately 6 million Confucians in the World, about 26 thousand live in North America.
