Presentation transcript:

What is Dynamics? Deals with the accelerated motion of a body. Kinematics: which is treat only the geometric aspect of the motion. Kinetics : which is the analysis of tye force causing the motion. We will start with dynamics of particlerigid-body.

An Overview of Mechanics Mechanics: The study of how bodies react to forces acting on them. Statics: The study of bodies in equilibrium. Dynamics: 1. Kinematics – concerned with the geometric aspects of motion 2. Kinetics – concerned with the forces causing the motion

In details….. Dynamics Kinematics Kinetics Particle Rigid Body Chapter 1 -Rectilinear motion -Erratic Motion -Curvilinear Motion -Dependent Motion Chapter 5 -Translation -Rotation -General Plane Motion -Chapter 2 : Force & Acceleration -Chapter 3 : Energy Method -Chapter 4 : Impulse & Momentum -Chapter 6 : Force & Acceleration -Chapter 7 : Energy Method -Chapter 8 : Impulse & Momentum

Tips to solve problems How to solve problems? Mostly using calculus rather than algebra and trigonometry. How to solve problems?

Tips to solve problems Read the problem carefully and try to correlate the actual physical situation with the theory you have studied. Draw any necessary diagrams and tabulate the problem data. Establish a coordinate system and apply the relevant principle generally in mathematical form.

Tips to solve problems Solve the necessary equations algebraically as far as practical; then, use a consistent set of units and complete the solution numerically. Report the answer with no more significant figure than the accuracy of the given data. Study he answer using technical judgement and common sense to determine whether or not it seem reasonable.

Tips to solve problems Once the solution has been completed, review the problem. Try to think of other ways of obtaining the same solution
