They are used to select data for reporting. Dimension objects retrieve data that provide report analysis. They are usually character-type data, e.g., Company Name. Measure objects retrieve numeric data, or data that is the result of calculations on data in the database. Measure objects can total, sum, and perform other dynamic functions.
