Learning in the Spotlight The School Theatre: –An innovative way to learn: in a creative environment through artistic experience. –A great chance to learn: in an ‘alive’ and entertaining fashion. –A rare opportunity to learn: by acting on stage and attending the shows.

Learning in the Spotlight Challenge: Students regard studying at school as too difficult (55%) and/or boring (53%). All-Russia Foundation “Public Opinion” Solution: Introduction of theatre activities at school as a springboard for more active engagement of students in the process of learning to increase motivation and satisfaction and improve performance at school.

Learning in the Spotlight Opportunities: –To express and share our passion for theatre; –To facilitate the learning activities with theatre techniques; –To support and complement classroom curriculum; –To provide opportunity to learn through acting on stage and/or attending performances; –To add excitement of both educational and entertainment value to the learning environment at school.

Learning in the Spotlight Mission: To establish and successfully manage a school theatre with a purpose to gain practical knowledge and experience of business operations and art production and provide ourselves and our schoolmates opportunity to learn and extend a variety of skills in an engaging and creative way by ‘learning through acting.” Objectives: –To practice and apply developed ideas, insights, values and learned skills; –To gain appreciation and profit from a high-quality product; –To have lasting positive impact on our consumers, shareholders and community.

Learning in the Spotlight Product: Direction, production and performance of theatrical activities designed to motivate and engage students - both as actors and auditors – to learn through artistic experience –and enjoy ‘learning in the spotlight.’ –9 drama games and skits performed at English language elementary school classes. –Dramatization of Anton Chekov’s story «Kashtanka» –Guided Excursion at Melikhovo estate (“Life and Creations of Anton Chekhov”)

Learning in the Spotlight Priorities Quality: constant improvement of operations, production and marketing to achieve our clients’ and shareholders’ satisfaction. Innovations: 82% of our schoolmates appreciated the novelty and excitement of learning by acting either as actors or as spectators. 61 % of parents and 89% of teachers approved and supported our idea. Cost and Benefit balance: favorable for customers and stimulating for the Company members. Social Responsibility: use of recycled materials, pro bono services, charity events, free training, in-kind and cash donations. Learning by Doing and Acting – in the Spotlight: operating an art- business enterprise; learning business lessons and professional options; practice and apply learned knowledge and skills today and in the future.
