The NHS

Introduction! I am going to explain how the NHS is organised. What the main services of the NHS are. About the people that work the NHS.

What Is The NHS? The NHS is the largest organisation in Europe. One of the best health services in the world but there is need for improvements to cope with the 21 st century.

How Is The NHS Organised? It is funded by the tax- payer and costs lots and lots of money a year. The resources are not unlimited, the funds have to be allocated. Priorities for the health care have to be set. This is the job of the health service managers.

What Are The Main Services? The main services of the NHS are: Primary Health Care which is classed as paramedics and G.P’s. Two other services they provide are: providing blood and protecting public health.

People In The NHS! The people that are involved in this service are: doctors, dentists, paramedics, midwives, nurses, opticians, pharmacies. To become one of these you need 4 or more GCSE’s, also you need to be physically fit and highly skilled. You have to be able to make decisions quickly, use a variety of equipment and be able to calm and reassure your patients. They help the others by providing them with lots of different services that will benefit the public!

The NHS!

How To Become A Paramedic! To become a paramedic you need all of the skills that are needed. 4 or more GCSE’s. You have to be able to allow the patients to rely on you and let them be able to trust you.

How To Become A Midwife! A midwife is a specialist who is qualified to give total care to a woman and her baby during pregnancy, labour and after the baby is born. The midwife does not have to call in a doctor unless there is a potential or actual problem which requires medical assistance.

How To Become A Nurse! Nurses focus on the needs of the individual, rather than specific illnesses or conditions. It is possible to take either a diploma or degree course to qualify as a nurse. The first year will introduce you to the basic principles of nursing. Full time diploma courses last three years. Degree courses last three or four years. The course is 50% theory and 50% practical.

How To Become An Optician! An optician's duties include fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, writing work orders for lab technicians and performing administrative work. You need 4GCSE’s a degree and maybe an A level to become an optician!

Summary! I have explained all about the NHS, I have found out the company is a large organisation with lots of different services. I have found out lots of information on the different services and how to become apart of the NHS team. Finally I have found out how the organisation was funded and what they had to do to get this funding money.
