The Game Officials’ Slots Clicking on the slot numbers ([0/3]) displays the slots for assignment and also for editing the slot conditions.

Clicking on the + button between the arrows allows you to add additional slots for officials to the game. The up and down arrows allow you to rotate officials within the game, once they are assigned. I.e. the SAR can move to the Ref position, ref to the AR, and AR to the SAR by using the up arrow, etc.

This screen displays when you click on the yellow + button the previous page. You then select the position you wish to add and fill in the rest of the info needed and click save.

Clicking on the trash can icon will delete an official’s position from the listing game. Clicking on the pencil icon beside a selected position will allow you to edit that position on that game.

When you click on the trash can icon this delete screen will appear and you will be required to confirm the deletion by again clicking delete in the upper right corner. This will remove the position from the game.

By clicking on the edit pencil of the game display you bring up this screen from which you can change any game position parameters, including status of the assigned official, the accept by date, and the allowed ranking range

To Assign an Official to a Game Click on the Slots Beside the Game Clocking on the slots listing causes the games positions to open for assignment.

If you click on the referee position assign link, the following screen will appear.

The Assign Officials List

By clicking on the games slots, you can display the other officials already assigned to the match and where they are coming from and what their mileage will be.

This column displays the rank of the referee for the position being assigned This column displays the distance the referee is from the game site This column displays the city the referee is departing from to reach the game site This column displays the date of the referee’s last game

This column is the assignment function. By using the drop box button you can set the status of the referee being assigned and then by clicking go you can assign the official.

By clicking on the drop box button you bring up the list of the four status types for the assigned official. Select the one you want, click on it, then click go to assign the official.

Assignment Status of Official There are four choices as to the assignment status of an official: Pending, meaning the official has been assigned to the game by the assignor but has not yet been sent the assignment or informed of it. Published, meaning the official has been assigned to the game by the assignor and has been sent the assignment. Notified, meaning the official has been assigned to the game by the assignor, has been sent the assignment, and has seen, but not yet accepted, the assignment. Accepted, meaning the official has been assigned to the game by the assignor, has been sent the assignment, and has accepted the assignment.

This list presently shows all officials who are rated for the game, are available, and have no assignment issues.

This list is arranged by highest to lowest rank first, then within the rank by closest first, then within the same distance by the referee having the least games first. You can change the display sort by clicking on the column headers in the order you wish displayed. The present sort order will be displayed on the left side of the page.

Using either the numbered pages or the alphabetical listing below you can display more officials. (In the present case the page is set to show 100 officials and there are 100 or less available officials so there is only 1 page)

The number sequence under the games heading indicates the number of assignments in the sport, at the level of the game, and at the position being assigned now. If you forget what these numbers mean just put your mouse over them and a pop up window defining them will appear.

You can see the present and past schedule of any referee you are considering assigning by clicking on the numbers under the Games heading.

Clicking on the numbers under the Games heading beside the official’s name brings up that official’s future game assignments.

If Show All is clicked on that official’s schedule it displays past and future game assignments.

From the official’s game schedule screen you can unassign the official and leave him open, blocked, or turned back for that game Clicking on unassign brings up the following screen.

From this screen the assignor can choose to remove a referee from an assigned position and leave him open (available for reassignment), blocked (not available to assignment but able to be overridden by assignor) or turned back (unavailable at the game time for ANY arbiter group and not subject to override until the assignor placing the turnback removes it.

From the official’s game schedule screen you can also review the whole crew assigned to the game by clicking on the number under the Game heading. When you do this the following screen will appear.

From this crew screen you can access all the same info you could as a referee.

From the official’s game schedule screen you can review notes to the games and posted match reports. The ability to review the referee’s match reports, particularly those dealing with one of the teams involved with the present game being assigned, can be invaluable, especially in reviewing prior misconduct by the team involved in the present assignment.

Clicking on the R in the referee’s schedule beside a game brings up the match report for review and/or editing by the assignor.

In the comments section of the lower half of the match report is where referees report cautions and send offs and other comments regarding the game.

The Potential Officials List If from the available officials list you do not see a referee you wish to assign, you can expand the list by looking at potential officials. To do this click on the potential officials button and then click Get Results. Potential officials are all officials, including those that have issues which can be overridden by the assignor. The only officials NOT displayed will be those with conflicting assignments from other Arbiter groups.

When using the potential officials list, the issues that cause conflicts for a referee are listed under thee issues column and the explanation of those codes is listed to the left. Clicking on the listed issue(s) will also cause the listed issue to be displayed below the game.

To see all possible officials, whether already assigned in other groups, or otherwise conflicted, click on ranked officials and then click Get Results.

Pending Assignments Pending Assignments are assignments which have been made but not released. Officials can see that they have a pending assignment by looking on their calendar where pending game dates are listed in light blue. They cannot see the exact assignment but they can see the date, time and site of the assignment. A pending assignment prevents a referee from placing an effective block on a date until the pending game on that date has been removed by an assignor.

Published Assignments When an assignment is published the Arbiter automatically sends the referee an telling the official that there are new games on the system for that official. The official has 5 days, unless the assignor has changed the deadline at the publish step, in order to accept or decline the assignment(s) Failure to accept or decline within the deadline, normally 5 24 hr periods from the time of publishing, will cause the system to remove the referee from the assignment and list the official as blocked for that game period.

Notified Assignments When an assignment is listed as notified, it means that a published assignment has been reviewed or seen by the assigned referee but that official has not yet accepted or declined the assignment.

Accepted Assignments An accepted assignment is one in which the referee has received the assignment, logged on and clicked accepted on the game schedule, and clicked on submit. Once a game has been accepted only an assignor can remove the official. If an official must be replaced on an accepted game, the assignor decides whether that is to be counted as a turn back, a decline, or simply to mark the referee as open but remove the official from that game.
