Today we will be learning: to solve word problems involving time to use and understand words about time.

We are going to solve problems involving doubling and halving. Mental Activity We are going to solve problems involving doubling and halving. It takes Ali 20 minutes to sharpen the pencils. Megan does it in half the time. How long does it take Megan? 10 minutes

A football match lasts for 90 minutes A football match lasts for 90 minutes. After how many minutes is it half time? 45 minutes A driver has completed half of his journey in 35 minutes. How long should the whole journey take? 1 hour and 10 minutes

A television programme is half-way through after 25 minutes A television programme is half-way through after 25 minutes. How long is the programme? 50 minutes Richard runs 5 kilometres in 46 minutes. Sam does it in half the time. How long does it take Sam? 23 minutes
