2 Employee Involvement Tips   Believe that you will have a safe and healthful workplace, whatever it takes   Show your commitment through leadership   Communicate clearly to your employees that a safe and healthful workplace is a condition of employment   Tell your employees what you expect of them

3 Employee Involvement Tips   Give employees adequate training and resources for the job expected of them   Get as many employees involved in the process as possible to brainstorm, inspect, etc.   Put employee safety and health participation on the clock

4 Employee Involvement Tips   Take your employees’ efforts, suggestions and concerns seriously   Make sure employees hear about it when other employees’ ideas are successful

5 Form an Employee Safety Committee   The committee should be large enough to represent different parts of your worksite   Try to have equal numbers of management and non-supervisory employees on the committee   Ensure that the safety and health staff serves on the committee

6 Suggested Committee Activities   Hold regularly scheduled committee meetings   Use an agenda so the discussion is value added and constructive   Conduct regularly scheduled field and yard inspections   Use a checklist   Train the committee members to conduct inspections   Involve the committee with helping to solve one or two difficult safety and health problems   Take their recommendations and feedback seriously
