Student will learn: mole stoichiometry problems mass stoichiometry problems volume stoichiometry problems How to determine amount of reactants or amount produced when given a chemical reaction. Ws. 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4

Five Steps to solving Stoichiometry problems 1. Write correct formulas, balanced chemical equations Identify the given and unknown quantities. “Whatever units given in problem must be converted into Moles.” Use the coefficients to “set up mole ratios” 4. After solving the problem convert quantities to whatever units are required. ( typical grams). 5. Check that your answer is reasonable. Are the units correct?

How many moles of ammonia will be produced if 5 mol nitrogen react? First item to learn is mole ratio ws. 10.0 N2 + 3H2 2NH3 How many moles of ammonia will be produced if 5 mol nitrogen react? How many moles of ammonia will be produced if 4 mol hydrogen reacts? 3, How many moles of nitrogen are required to react with 3.5 mol of hydrogen?

2H2 + O2 2H2O 4. How many moles of water are produced when 3 mol of oxygen are used? 5. If 4 mol of water are produced, how many moles of oxygen must be consumed? 6. How many moles of oxygen are required to react with 5 moles of hydrogen?

Remember: working problems everything must be in moles. Ws. 10.1 1)If 72.0 grams of O2 are reacted, how many grams of ammonia will be combusted? 4NH3 + 5O2 4NO + 6H2O

2)Given 55.0grams of iron (IV) sulfide, how many grams of iron III oxide are produced? 4FeS2 + 11O2 2Fe2O3 + 8SO2
