North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Major Goals – A&S SPA Employees  Goal 1: Develop staff initiatives and strategies that align with the University’s Preeminence 2020 Priority #2: Improve Operational Effectiveness and Efficiency.  Goal 2: Provide educational & training resources to assist SPA employees with development, performance and job accountability.  Goal 3: Redirect focus and approach to SPA staff performance management and evaluation.  Goal 4: Implement an SPA Staff Recognition/Incentive Program with the objective of improving staff employee morale and motivation.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT  Increase awareness & knowledge of available training and development opportunities (internal and external) for SPA staff.  Conduct “in-house” trainings with College’s SPA staff to increase knowledge base and skill sets of employees.  Strategize & implement administrative “best practices” that enhance/augment employee efficiency and service. | Explore. DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES  Survey & meet with chairs/directors to determine priority development needs and existing resources to assist their respective units.  Research internal & external training & development workshops for SPA staff & schedule as appropriate.  Conduct College-wide meetings/workshops to reinforce SPA employee efficiency, as well as professional and personal enrichment.

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University How will Arts & Sciences achieve its alignment with this Preeminence 2020 goal? PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT  Conduct group meetings with SPA staff to reinforce new direction and importance of the College’s performance management initiative.  Conduct one-on-one meetings with chairs/directors and unit SPA staff throughout the academic year to assist with performance strategies and management (inc. supervisor training).  Incorporate at least three (3) SPA evaluative discussions prior to final evaluation submittal in the Spring.  Arrange “in-house” mandatory PMP presentation by HR personnel for both chairs/directors and SPA staff. | Explore. SPA STAFF RECOGNITION  Provide enrichment opportunities throughout the year that focus on enhancing staff recognition and morale.  Conduct meetings (group or one-on-one) with chairs and directors to reinforce importance & necessity of staff recognition and morale at unit level.  Implement monthly SPA Employee Highlight on the College’s webpage.  Incorporate SPA staff “morale boosters” and incentives throughout the year.
