Abstract: "When libraries in motion meet people in motion, anything can happen." That's the motto of the strategic plan, decided by the City Council of Stockholm for the years A new plan is under way and the City has supplied the library with a budget for developing. Stockholm Public Library is designing places for meetings, between the media and the man, between people and people and between media and media. I March 2010 the third Subway Library is opening in cooperation with the Metropolitan Transport Company. A truly third place between job and home. In september Stockholm Public Library are staging a pilot to grow into an Idea City, together with the Science City in Kista, in the northern part of Stockholm. There we work together with Dream Hack as well as the Muslim Education Center. Stockholm Public Libraries are surely on the move.

Sture library is just 190 sqm and has a low ceiling. To make the book wall visible from the subway below, the architect put a mirror on top of it. The book is the sign and the symbol for medias of any form.

The Metro libraries serve ”fast food” and ”slow food” The ”fast food” as downloading e-books or picking up a Tea-bag with books, chosen and blended for different moods.

The ”slow food” is ready when you have time to sit down The golden lounge serves you with short stories and magazines and you can bring your tea from the downstairs coffee shop Take a ”shower” and listen to an e-book. Or have a lunch meeting with the author live.

Bring the kids, small or larger. Take a book box with you to the armchairs, a big and a small, and chose a story to read on your way between pre-school or work and home.
