Professional Councils recognised by the CETA Professional Councils included in the Council for the Built Environment Act (2000) for: Architecture Project and Construction Management Engineering Landscape Architecture Property Valuers Quantity Surveyors Councils under the Acts for: Land Surveyors Town and Regional Planners

Representation of the Professionals The Built Environment Professional Consultancy employer bodies for all professions: Established Consultancies: Bill Schutz (SAACE) Emerging Consultancies: Kelvin Radebe (SABTACO) Professional Councils: Samuel Pauw (Architect)

Accreditation of training and refund of levies NQF levels 1 – 4 The CETA has clearly defined systems for accreditation NQF levels 5 – 8 The CETA will rely on the inputs from the Professional Councils

Qualification for levy refunds (whether training up to professional registration or post registration) CETA manages the process using its various committees in accordance with the SAQA Act CETA committees are the Skills Development Committee and the National Sub-Sector Committees A partnership will be formed between CETA, the Councils (eg ECSA), SAQA and the Council for Higher Education (CHE) Employers of professional consultants represented by the Committee for the Built Environment Professionals (chair Bill Schutz)

Progress to date The various committees are relatively new and still in the process of establishing the detail of their roles and operations Aspects of how professional level training is to be defined and accredited are still in the process of being worked out Unit standards for professionals still have to be written
