Goals for Elementary Goals  Streamline the process of identifying GT students  Cluster GT students at each grade level on each elementary campus  Provide information to all teachers about characteristics and needs of GT students  Professional Development for GT Teachers Secondary Goals  Train all teachers in Pre AP and AP strategies  Build a strong Pre AP and AP program in middle school and high school District Goals  Network with GT Coordinators in other districts  Provide information to parents of GT students

Professional Development  30-hour GT training for new GT teachers in district (summer 2008)  6-hour update for GT teachers who already have their 30 hours (summer 2008)  Additional GT training through our partnerships with the Southeast GT Co-op and the Houston Area GT Co-op  TAGT scholarships available to GT students and parents  Laying the Foundations – English  Rice Institute – Pre AP and AP  College Board workshops

Advanced Academics Secondary Middle School  Advanced classes Advance Placement  6 th, 7 th, & 8 th High School  Pre AP classes – Advance Placement preparation *9 th & 10 th  AP classes – College credit w/exam * 11 th & 12 th  Dual Credit – Classes taken for college credit at San Jacinto College (12 classes offered)  MECA – Modified Early College Academy: Students receive high school credit while working on an associate degree at San Jacinto College.
