Where We Came From Where We Are Going A Brief Timeline of Communication History

It all began with writings on the wall Hieroglyphics were a way for the people of the past to communicate with those who came after them.

Languages written and verbal developed Man learned to speak to his neighbor, write a common language in his community, and eventually ship these messages by camel, horse, and ship.

Morse Code was brought into existence in 1836 by Samuel Morse Use this link to create your name in Morse CodeMorse CodeUse this link to create your name in Morse CodeMorse Code

The Telephone was invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell and has continued to evolve to this day.

Vacuum Tubes were brought into existence in 1906 and thus began a new revolution in technology and eventually in communication. These were followed by transistors in 1948 and then silicon chips.transistors

The microprocessor Was invented by Intel in 1971, this started a revolution in personal computers and electronic devices that continue to get faster and smaller and more essential to our day to existence.

The First The First was transmitted in 1972 as an experiment by graduate students. It worked and transformed our current methods of communication. 1972

The Internet became available to the public in 1992 It has now evolved into a center for communication and trade. But more than that, the Internet is the place for our large and impersonal world to feel more like a small community.

We continue to use our own form of Hieroglyphics We call them emoticons or emotion icons. Instead of writing on cave walls, we use the internet to post our pictures. So and use the useful list on Dave Barry’s site to help you get familiar with this language. Dave Barry’s site Dave Barry’s site

Like Morse Code, we also continue to use a special code to communicate with computers. This is called binary code and is based on the simple principal of on being the number 1 and off being the number 0. Try it. Click this link to find out how your first and last names look in binary code. binary code.binary code.
