The large farms and plantations are in need of a LARGE work force to plant and harvest their CASH CROP like TOBACCO What do we do????

At 1 st The English attempted to ENSLAVE Native Americans...

But this created tensions with the neighboring tribes

and the Native Americans knew their way around the land and could escape!

Also, there weren’t enough Native Americans available because DISEASE impacted their lives

Servants that work for a certain period of time in exchange for a ticket to go across the ocean

This cash crop required more help so slaves were brought from Africa

What is this?

Protected from a disease

The slaves were immune to the diseases so that made working in the South difficult
