Seedling Data National Manual Version 1.61 Section 6.0

Seedling Count Procedure Record every seedling species on the microplot by condition Count up to five individuals of each species by condition Planted and natural seedlings must be 1.0 ft in length Longleaf pine must be 0.5 inch at the root collar Only count stump sprouts as one seedling

Microplot Number 1Center microplot 2North microplot 3Southeast microplot 4Southwest microplot

Condition Class Number Record the Condition Number of each seedling species

Species Record the appropriate species code

Seedling Count Record up to 5 individuals of each species in each condition If more than 5 seedlings, record “6”

Plot Sheet Example Microplot one has two conditions Red maple on both conditions

Plot Sheet Example Microplot two has two conditions More than five loblolly pine and two red maple seedlings No seedling tally on Condition 2

Plot Sheet Example Microplot three has one condition Five loblolly pine and three red maple seedlings

Plot Sheet Example Microplot four has one condition More than five red maple and loblolly pine seedlings There are more red maples than loblolly pine
