Area of Surface and Volume of Three-Dimensional Objects

Surface Area and Volume of Three-Dimensional Object The surface area of a three-dimensional object is the sum of area of each side of the object. Surface area is measured in square units such as square feet (ft2), square yards (yd2), square meters (m2), square kilometers (km2), etc. The volume of a three-dimensional object is the measure of the space enclosed by a object. Volume is the measured in cubic units such as cubic feet (ft3), cubic yards (yd3), cubic meters (m3), cubic kilometers (km3), etc.

Formulas Total Surface Area: SA, Volume: V

Formulas Total Surface Area: SA, Volume: V

Formulas Total Surface Area: SA, Volume: V sum of the areas of the faces ,where B is the area of the base

Exercises Find the surface area and the volume for each figure. a) b)

Exercises A building contractor is to dig a foundation 12 ft long, 9 ft wide, and 6 ft deep for a tollbooth. The contractor pays $10 per load for truck to remove dirt. Each truck holds 6 cubic yards. What is the coast to the contractor to have all dirt hauled away? The diameter of the tennis ball is 6.5 cm. Find the volume of the ball.
