4 Proposed Process The poll will be conducted as consistently as possible with the procedures used in an ordinary council election:  Conducted by the Victorian Electoral Commission  Residents and ratepayers on the municipal voters’ roll for Hume city Council as if a council election was being conducted  By postal vote  Ballot packs to be sent by post with background information on the poll and instructions on how to make a formal vote  Voluntary voting

5 Proposed Timelines Timelines will be determined by the Victorian Electoral Commission. An indicative timeline of major activities is:  Voter roll close mid August  Notice of the poll published in local media end August to mid September  Poll material mailed out to voters at the start of October  Close of voting 6pm Friday 25 October  Counting of votes commence Saturday 26 October  Count per ward and also for whole of Hume  Result notified to the Minister as soon as possible thereafter
