Upgrading the TDA

What is SD? Introducing the SD Memory Card The SD (Secure Digital) Memory Card is a highly-sophisticated memory device about the size of a postage stamp. SD Memory Cards stand to revolutionise information, entertainment and communications by putting advanced digital storage technology quite literally at your fingertips. SD Memory Cards are non-volatile, which means they do not require power to retain the information stored on them. They are solid-state devices, so they have no moving parts to skip or break down. They will offer an incredible combination of high storage capacity (up to 1GB in the not-too-distant future), fast data transfer, great flexibility and excellent security. And of course, incredibly small size. SD facilitates fast, simple, secure downloading of all types of digital files, like music, movies, photos, news. Once downloaded to your PC, you can organize and store the files as you wish. Then easily transfer the files from your PC to a super-compact SD Memory Card, which will be accepted by a whole variety of future SD-enabled products. Of course, you will also be able to directly record your own audio, video, still photos, and more onto SD Memory Cards, as such products become available.

Understanding TDA Memory Architecture MPR (Main Processor Card) LPR (Line Processor) SD Card: ALL DATA!! SDRAM: PMPR DSYS SRAM FLASH: BOOT DATA SDRAM: Pxxx Dxxx FLASH: BOOT DATA

Understanding TDA Memory Architecture The SD card stores: MPR card data (PMPR) Language data (Dlng0,Dlng1) System data (DSYS) MPR Initial Data (DINI) Card Initial Data (Dxxx) LPR card data (Pxxx) Each card (LPR & MPR) stores its own card data in SDRAM built into the card. System data is stored in SDRAM on the MPR & backed up on the SD card. (System Data is “Customer Data”)

Understanding TDA Memory Architecture The TDA system requires the SD card to have a valid Directory/Folder structure. If this structure is incorrect the MPR can not read data from the SD card and the system will not run!!! SD Card directory Structure:

Upgrading MPR & LPR Data New files need to be uploaded to the SD card before upgrading the required card. There are 2 methods of uploading files to the SD card. 1. Cut & Paste by fitting SD card to SD reader/writer. 2. Using the PBX programming software.

Upgrading MPR Data Download new MPR file, save to a folder on your hard disk & extract files by double clicking the new file.

Upgrading MPR Data 2. Check current version of MPR Data by connecting with Programming software.

Upgrading MPR Data 3. Backup System Data to SD Card & Disconnect the programming software from the PBX

Upgrading MPR Data 4. Check there is NO activity on the SD ACCESS led on the MPR of the PBX!!! 5. Once there is NO activity it is safe to remove the SD card from the PBX and fit to the SD Reader/Writer

Upgrading MPR Data 6. Copy downloaded files: PMPR DLNG0 DLNG1 Do NOT copy DSYS!!!

Upgrading MPR Data 7. Paste the files to the SD card, replacing old files.

Upgrading MPR Data Replace the SD Card in the PBX MPR Now Reset the PBX by pressing the reset button. As the PBX reboots the new program file is loaded to the MPR

Upgrading MPR Data 11. Recheck the software version of the MPR and the upgrade is complete.

Upgrading LPR Card Data The LPR card data can be easily uploaded using the PBX Programming Software. 1. Download and extract the new files to folder on PC.

Upgrading LPR Card Data 2. Open Utility-File Transfer PC to PBX (SD Card). Transfer new Files to SD Card

Upgrading LPR Card Data 3. ‘OUS’ the LPR card

Upgrading LPR Card Data 4. Open Utility-SD Card File View and Load. To View the Program file for LPR stored on the SD card click Pxxx (xxx LPR card type)

Upgrading LPR Card Data SD Card File 5. Check the version of the LPR card by selecting the card then View button. 7. Confirm new file on SD card in left window is newer than the file on the LPR Card then Press the Load button. LPR Card File

Upgrading LPR Card Data 8. Check the file has loaded correctly by pressing the View button again. Both windows should show same version. 9. Now click Cancel & don’t forget to In-service the card!!

Upgrading MPR & LPR Notes: It is possible to upgrade both MPR & LPR cards remotely. When PMPR file is uploaded, a back up file is created. If the transmission is interrupted the PBX will continue to function. When upgrading trunk cards remotely Do Not OUS the trunk card you have dialled in on!!
