Draft Have you ever had a bad day? I have! It happened when I was in the 7th grade at Nobel Middle School. I entered a race called the 10K. I was a pretty fast runner and I thought I could win. The race took place in some hills by my school. When the race started, I felt really confident and I was in the lead. However, I started noticing that some people were catching up, so I decided to take a short cut. The short cut was a steep slope down the side of the hill. Everything was fine until I lost my balance. I started tumbling down the rocky hill. I felt like it would never end! Finally, I came to a crashing stop. It was bad! I was so embarrassed and on top of that, I was all cut up. My face, my hands, my arms, my hips, and my legs were all bloody and scraped. Luckily, one nice kid who I didn’t even know helped me up. I limped over to the adult that was supervising and she walked me over to the emergency van. They told me that I was too hurt to continue the race. I was so upset. They drove me back to school in the van and I was put in last place. I was very disappointed because I was in the lead! That day I learned that it’s not a good idea to take short cuts. From that day on, whenever I run, I stay on the path, no matter what place I’m in. I hope I never have a bad day like that again!
