 Monkeys are furry animals with long, fur-covered tails and hands with thumbs. Monkeys are either classified as Old World, or New World. New World monkeys have flatter noses, their body size runs from small to medium. Old World monkeys are stockier and have skulls with prominent ridges, they are medium to large sized.  The body of the monkey is similar to humans. They have bodies that are designed to give them both strength and agility. They have long legs and arms that are flexible so that they can climb with them.

 A chimpanzee is a mammal (Primate)  The genus of a chimpanzee is Pan  Family- Hominidae

 Chimpanzees live in a wide variety of habitats, including tropical rain forests, woodlands, swamp forests, and grasslands in Western Africa.  Chimpanzees are omnivores and will mainly feed on fruits, nuts, seeds and insects.

 Chimps consume there energy from plants they are omnivore so they eat nuts, berries, fruits, and plants.  The prey for a chimpanzee are the leopard which is the top predator in the African Rain Forest, crocodiles and huge pythons.

 Chimpanzees carry fruit and nuts around while they eat them, when their done the drop the food and the seeds from the fruit help the forest create more fruit trees.  Chimpanzees reproduce just like any other primate  They reproduce 5 years in-between each birth  They only have 1 offspring at a time

 Males take time to grow and mature, they compete with rivals for exclusive mating access, they are dependent on a females choice and cooperation to achieve successful copulation.

 Chimpanzees face a number of serious threats, including habitat destruction and the illegal poaching of animals for bush meat  The commercial hunting of bush meat could lead to extinction

 Chimpanzee’s are important because They are endangered Chimpanzees are important for biodiversity, its a balanced ecosystem depending on a variety of species and all species depend on each other for survival. Chimpanzees are amazing, Chimpanzee’s are a lot like humans
