P2 Project Funding in Region 5 P2 Grants for State and Tribal Assistance * $477,000 available in 2009 * 6 grants Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) Grants * $130,000 available in 2009 * 3 to 5 grants

Grant Results Measures Move from achieving activity OUTPUT measures to environmental OUTCOMES Examples of outcome measures expected to be achieved : Pounds of hazardous materials reduced, BTUs of energy conserved, Gallons of water saved, and Dollars saved through P2 efforts.

Green Suppliers Network (GSN) Michigan Office Furniture Manufacturers GSN Michigan Dept. of Environmental Quality (DEQ) funded with FY 2004 SRA Grant and 2006 P2 Grant Brought together DEQ, MEP in Grand Rapids, and Steelcase Inc. in a Sector-Based GSN project

Metalworks - Ludington, MI Manufacturer of metal filing cabinets Reduced water use by 16 million gallons from new parts washing practices saving $30,000 annually Reduced chemical use in parts washing by 20% Saving $20,000 Saved $50,000 in natural gas costs from redesigning curing ovens Saved $50,000 in natural gas costs due to improved controls on air make up

MnTAP Reducing Waste from Manufacturing Medical Devices Reduce packaging waste and research alternative sterilization methods $47,040 3,679 lbs solid waste 125 lbs air emissions

Techsolve – S.W. Ohio P2 Intern Project Train and place interns with companies 739,000 gallons of water conserved $318,000 cost reduced 13,200 lbs. of hazardous materials reduced 364,000 lbs of other waste reduced
