Don’t do for your child, what they can do for themselves, but please set them up for success by: Early bedtime Arrive on time Eat a great breakfast & pack a snack Develop routines (take-home folder, library books…) Help with homework

Homework will be communicated daily in planners Reading for up to 20ish minutes to record in their monthly reading calendar Nightly math practice due the following day Practice spelling words (nothing is to be turned in)

Goal: To read minutes each week. Use the Homework Calendar to record minutes. Earn a mini-pizza certificate for Pizza Hut each month. book bag tag on your first visit a sticker each visit for the book bag tag complete all six months and receive a certificate

Homework Calendar

Step 1: Take it home Step 2: Fill it in nightly Step 3: Bring it back to school at the end of the month Step 4: Turn it in! (And get a Pizza Hut Coupon for a FREE pizza!)

Please visit our classroom site at: Follow the “Online Resources” tab on the left navigation bar. Additional activities can be found in the monthly issues of the Longacre Link.

What your child knows, or does not know, should not come as a surprise to you at report card and conference time (be sure to sign up for conferences). Everything we do is based on exploration, discussion and activities, not handout. Incorrect/incomplete responses will be circled. Reflection, not perfection, is the goal. Select a time to review work brought home together with your child.

S.P.O.T. Charts: Students earn “spots” for being noticed using a habit S.P.O.T. Charts stay in our Leadership Notebooks under the “Celebrations” section Behavior Planners Keep the planners in the green folder Students circle the green if they haven’t had any behavioral reminders or if they’ve been asked to self-monitor Students circle the yellow if they have been reminded to make a match

Students circle the smiley faces in the planner to communicate to you how their days went. Your student should be able to tell you why they circled a specific color.

Plan for Success -Communication about behavior. -It is used when a student has been asked to self- monitor, make-a- match, make a plan, and the behavior has continued. -Must be signed and returned to school the next day.

Volunteers are needed in so many ways! (both within and outside of our classroom) If you are interested, please look at all of the options on the green form and return it at your convenience. If you’d like to sign up to be our Math Pentathlon volunteer/teacher or our Art Smart volunteer, there is a sign up in the back of the classroom. Don’t forget about the PTA Volunteer Opportunities!

Together, we are a team. If we can be of any support or assistance to you, let us know! Please feel free to *Hopefully you’ve already received our weekly . If you did not receive one, please see us after the presentation.
