Standards Addressed Social Studies: – K.1.b: The student will recognize that history describes events and people of other times and places by identifying the people and events honored by the holidays of Independence Day Art – K.4: The student will create works of art that commemorate personal or community events

Lesson Objectives The students will be able to… 1)Identify why we celebrate Independence Day and when 2)Use fine motor skills to create a piece of art using Jackson Pollock Dripping Technique 1)Correctly identify Jackson Pollock’s artwork
