About 100 years ago, a missionary couple came from America to a remotest part of Japan…
They were fascinated by the beauty of the hills, the flowers and the people.
His name was Rev. George Pierson.
His wife was Ida.
The Piersons in kimonos, a gift of love and appreciation from the local people.
Their house was called the Three Oaks.
From their home, they were able to see the Christian pioneer settlement in the distance.
Their house became a house of prayer for the pioneers and the local people.
A house of love for God and people.
The Piersons dedicated themselves to the education of the people.
Especially the education of the women.
Many lives were touched by them.
They helped to end the prostitution trade.
They also promoted the development of schools.
The local people loved them.
A samurai becoming a man of God!
They published annotated translations of the Old and New Testament into the Japanese language.
This Gospel of John was being translated, interestingly with some help from Singapore.
This plate was found in their home in Kitami, far away from their home in USA.
The church bell was well-preserved.
This telescope was once used by the Piersons.
