Zgierz - a town and municipality in the Lodz region, in the county of Zgierz. The origin of the name”Zgierz” isn't known In old documents, the city was called Zguyr, Sguir, Segey and Shegrz. In the years the town administratively belonged to the province of Łódź. Zgierz received the city rights before 1318 and is one of the oldest cities in the region. Zgierz is the seventy seventh city in the country in terms of population ( people) and ninety-eighth in terms of area (42.33 km ²).

Roman Catholic Church was built in 1908 as a house of prayer for Mariavites in Zgierz and served them for 40 years. Since 1947 it served as a military church. Since 1949 the church became a parish of MB of Good Counsel in Zgierz. In 1968 the rectory of the church was organized with a separate area of pastoral work, since 1974 it was a parish church again.
