Our Project Plan  Make designs  Take measurements  Make dress pattern  Use the dress pattern to cut fabric  Add design components  Sew the fabric together with the sewing machine

Our Expected Learning  How to make and use a dress pattern  How to measure and cut the fabric correctly  How to sew using a sewing machine  How to sew using needle and thread.

Our Actual Learning  How advanced dress pattern making is  How to sew by hand (for design components)  How to pin fabric  How to cut the fabric neatly and correctly  How to sew with a sewing machine  How to hem a dress

Challenges  Discovered making a dress pattern is incredibly advanced sewing and something we wouldn’t be able to complete  Weren’t sure where to get the sewing machine  Had to change plans when shopping  Couldn’t figure out the sewing machine

How Challenges Were Dealt With  After finding that making a dress pattern would not be a possible option, decided to use a fabric already sewn with elastic  Solved problem of acquiring a sewing machine by talking with Mrs. Stone and developing a plan to use one of the sewing machines used in the Learn to Sew choice hour  Solved problems that occurred when shopping by talking to the employee and looking around the store  Solved the problem of using the sewing machine by remembering the steps given in a class on sewing

Estimation of Project Success:  Completed a dress  Learned how to use a sewing machine  Added design components  Model (Katie P.) liked the dress

Contributions Traded off when:  Sewing with the machine  Sewing by hand  Cutting fabric  Pinning the dress  Working on documentation

Reflection on Self Effort and Participation (Lexy) I feel like I contributed the best that I could to this project. The workload was split evenly and well, so no one was ever slacking off. When I was working, I tried my greatest to make the finished project one of quality. Maybe I could have volunteered to help more when my partner needed help, but I think that we worked very well.

Reflection on Self Effort and Participation (Jacqueline) I believe I put effort and contributed a lot to this project. I did my share of the work to the best of my abilities. I think at times I could have been more helpful, but for the most part, I did everything I needed to do.

Time Efficiency Time could have been used more effectively by:  Buying the fabric and design components ahead of time  Arranging the sewing machine ahead of time
