By: Darrien H Project: Sewing

What I Did When I met with my mentor, we talked about what skills I currently have with sewing, what skills I would like to learn from this project and what I need to do this. I want to learn how to use my sewing machine better. There are a bunch of different settings on my sewing machine that change the kind of stitch. I want to know how to change to these different settings without messing up the machine. I also need some more tools to achieve my goal. I am excited to start on my project and make a quilt.

What I Learned I learned that I need more tools than I originally thought. I need a 45mm rotary cutter, which is like a pizza cutter for fabric, and a cutting board. I should also have a special see-through ruler, with marks for square inches, to cut the material with more precision. I also learned that I need to know how to read different kinds of patterns. There are many different patterns for different things like skirts and bags.

What I Have Made in the Past

What I Plan To Do Next month, I plan to start designing my quilt. I am going to decide what patterns I plan to put on my quilt and what colors I want to use. I also think I should get my tools and maybe some fabric.
