R OLE OF P ROGRAM D IRECTOR Preparedness Point of contact Monitor and address issues

A DDRESSING ISSUES If an issue comes up: Address the student, at least preliminarily, by meeting with him/her & discussing the situation Consult with CUAbroad regarding appropriate follow-up; CUAbroad will involve people at CUA as necessary Document follow up accordingly

C ODE OF S TUDENT C ONDUCT Primarily a procedural document Code does not directly apply overseas in that some policies do not easily translate overseas Standards of behavior for a study abroad trip must be made clear to participants before they leave Program directors are expected to have discussions about standards of behaviors before students go abroad

B EHAVIORAL BACKGROUND CHECKS Conducted by the Office of the Dean of Students “Good disciplinary standing” Program director and CUAbroad, with or without assistance from DOS, should speak with the student to ensure that he/she is clear on behavioral expectations for those with a history of poor choices.
