Standard III: Teachers Know the Content They Teach Teachers recognize the interconnectedness of content areas/disciplines. Teachers promote global awareness and its relevance to the subjects they teach. Teachers make instruction relevant to students. Teachers demonstrate the relationship between the core content and 21st century content that includes global awareness; financial, economic, business and entrepreneurial literacy; civic literacy; and health and wellness awareness. Standard II: Teachers Establish a Respectful Environment for a Diverse Population of Students Teachers embrace diversity in the school community and in the world. Teachers demonstrate knowledge of diverse cultures.

Each student receives a Journal and is expected to complete 4 parts: 1) Locate the place on a world map. 2) Create a heading. 3) Summarize the global issue. 4) Respond to the question.
