Introduction Rosa Parks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama of February 4,1913. As a child she suffered an illness that made her relatively small for her childhood. Her parents went in different directions and Rosa ended up living with her grandmother and grandfather as a result while her mother took her brother to live with separating the two children. Rosa was home schooled by her mother until she was eleven when she could finally go to a public school. Rosa lived her whole childhood by the Jim Crow laws because she was African American.

Rosa’s Life In 1929, Rosa had to drop out of school to help her sick grandmother. In 1932 Rosa parks got married to Raymond parks. Rosa finished high school for her degree in In 1943 he joined the NAACP. She had been a secretary of president E.D Nixon. She ended this job in 1957.

Rosa’s Life Long Trouble In 1955 December first Rosa Parks was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama for refusing to give up her seat for a white man during the Civil Rights Movement. Rosa ended up losing her job in a department store as a consequence because her arrest was taken very seriously by the public eye and later in that time her husband lost his job because he could not talk about anything to do with Rosa. She was bailed out during the same day.

Reality check Because of her arrest, all African Americans could not get on any buses the same day. Many blacks chose to protest about this arrest in Rosa Park’s honor. On December 8,1955 Rosa was given a trial and within a half an hour, she was found guilty of violating local ordinance. This meant that she had to pay a $10 fine and a $4 court fee.

Rosa’s Big Change When Rosa lost her job she wanted a new life so she moved to Detroit Michigan with her husband by her side. She then started her job as a secretary and a representative for John Conyer. In 1987, Rosa and Elaine Eason Steele, created “The Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for self development”. In 1992, she wrote an autobiography on herself called “Rosa Parks : My Story”.

Rosa Parks new life Rosa’s life had a positive out turn when she won awards like the “NAACP” award and the “Spingarn" award. Rosa’s whole life was yet to become better when African Americans looked at her as an icon to the world. In 1996, she was even awarded the “Presidential Medal of Freedom“ by Bill Clinton.

Good that came out of bad Good that came out of bad In 1997, She was awarded the “Congressional gold Medal”. In 1999, Rosa was even voted on of the 20 most influential people of the 20 th century.

Rosa’s death Rosa Parks died on October24,2005 when she was 92 years old. Rosa had died from progression dementia while she was in her apartment. 50,00 people came to see her casket when she was going to buried. She was buried so that she could be between the two people she loved which were her mother and husband in Detroit's Woodlawn Cemetery.
