Physical features Justine Moran

Plain Definition: A large area of flat land with few trees. Example: the great plains in central U. S. A.

Isthmus Definition: A narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land. Isthmus of Panama

Peninsula Definition: A piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water. Florida or Italy.

Archipelageo Definition: A sea or stretch of water containing many islands. The Florida Keys or The Aleutian Islands

Gulf Definition: A deep inlet of the sea almost surrounded by land, with a narrow mouth. the Mexican gulf

Canyon Definition: A deep gorge, typically one with a river flowing through it, as found in North America. The Grand Canyon is an example of a canyon.

Strait A narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two large areas of water: "the Strait of Gibraltar". some examples of a strait are Hawaii, New Zealand,and Australian strait.

Plateau An area of fairly level high ground. The colorado plataeu

River Mouth A delta is a landform that is formed at the mouth of a river where that river flows into an ocean, sea, estuary, lake, reservoir, flat... Example: the brisbane river

Delta A triangular tract of sediment deposited at the mouth of a river. Example: river,moutain,lake,volcane,glassies,waterfall

Glacier A slowly moving mass or river of ice formed by the accumulation and compaction of snow on mountains or near the poles. In New Zealand there are Franz Josef glacier and Fox glacier

Island A piece of land surrounded by water. Make into or like an island; place or enclose on or as on an island; isolate.

Mountain Range A line of mountains connected by high ground. Everett Mountains, the mountain range in Nunavut, Canada

Channel A length of water wider than a strait, joining two larger areas of water, esp. two seas. former Erie Canal.

Desert A dry, barren area of land, esp. one covered with sand. Abandon (a person, cause, or organization) in a way considered disloyal or treacherous
