ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes Grants May 29, 2010 For CHBA - CRC Conrad Baumgartner Office of Energy Efficiency Housing Division Natural Resources Canada

2 ecoENERGY Retrofit Who Can Apply Program Changes Effective March 31, 2010:  Only homeowners who booked a pre-retrofit evaluation by March 31, 2010 are eligible for a grant – program is no longer accepting new pre-retrofit bookings  Program will continue to approve grant applications from the over 300,000 eligible homeowners right up to March 31, 2011 — that is in addition to nearly 300,000 we have already processed.  Many provinces and territories have developed their own energy efficiency programs for homes, and the Government of Canada will continue to process applications for those complementary programs. Homeowners are encouraged to check with partners re: eligibility and available incentives.

3 ecoENERGY Retrofit Results to Date  Approximate statistics as of May 29, 2010:  1 in 20 homeowners in Canada are participating  1,500 inquiries per week  1,600 evaluations per day  Over 630,000 pre-retrofit evaluations  Over 325,000 post-retrofit evaluations  $400M+ already paid  $1,310 average grant  22% average energy savings  3 tonne average GHG savings
