Placement Tests ELM: Entry Level Mathematics  Designed to assess the skill levels of entering CSU students in the areas of mathematics typically covered in three years of rigorous college preparatory mathematics courses in high school  Necessary for Enrollment EPT: English Placement Test  Designed to assess the level of reading and writing skills of entering undergraduate students so that they can be place in appropriate courses  Necessary for Enrollment AWPE: Analytical Writing Placement Examination  Demonstrates an incoming UC student’s command of the English language Students who have not met the Writing Requirement by April 1, will receive an or letter directing them to a nearby test center You may be exempt from taking the ELM / EPT or AWPE through your SAT or AP Scores – Check with your counselor ELM / EPT Info
