Presentation transcript:

Project Directions Part One: 1.Assign one column of species per member 2.Cut out six cards from scrap paper 3.From column, research 1.2 producers 2.2 primary consumers (herbivores) 3.2 secondary consumers (carnivore or omnivore) 4.For each species, write on a card 1.Species Name 2.Producer or consumer 1. If it is a consumer, is it a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore? 3.What does it eat? 4.Is it a predator, prey, or both?

Project Directions Part Two: 1.Using the cards, create two food chains 1.Make sure your chain starts with a producer 2.Arrows need to show how the energy flows through the ecosystem 2.One of your food chains need to have tertiary consumer 3.You may need to work with your group members to find the correct diet for your species! Secondary Consumer Producer Primary Consumer Tertiary Consumer

Project Directions Part Three: 1.Make a PowerPoint presentation of your group’s six food chains 1.Recorder: Types PowerPoint on computer 2.Designer: Research and Pictures to Recorder on iPad 3.Director: Designs PowerPoint and manages group 2.Arrows need to show the flow of energy AND the reduction of available energy in each level 3.Each species needs to be pictured and labeled: 1.Producer 2.Primary Consumer 3.Secondary Consumer 4.Tertiary Consumer 5.Herbivore 6.Carnivore 7.Omnivore

Project Directions Part Four: 1. Each member fills out a Predator/Prey Table 2. For each food chain (6 total), place an X in the box for each species it eats

Project Directions Part Five: 1.Make a Sonoran Desert Food Web Poster 1.Must include all six food chains on the table 2.Producers must be at the bottom 3.Arrows need to show the flow of energy 4. Each species must be labeled: 1.Producer 2.Primary Consumer 3.Secondary Consumer 4.Tertiary Consumer 5.Herbivore 6.Carnivore 7.Omnivore NEEDS COLOR!!!

Project Directions Part Six: 1. Each card contains a unique incident that may affect your food web 2. In your PowerPoint, create a slide to explain how the incident on the card alters your food web 1.Recorder: Types PowerPoint on computer 2.Designer: Research and Pictures to Recorder on iPad 3.Director: Designs PowerPoint and manages group
