New Roles for Women New inventions & factory goods helped give middleclass women more free time away from the home. Women start to go to college and/or work out of the house.

Women Progressives Reform movement was focused on helping people. (Poor immigrants) Jane Addams & Ellen Starr- Hull House Carry Nation- Fought for prohibition by breaking up saloons with her hatchet.

Suffrage for Women Suffrage: The right to vote. Elizabeth Cady Stanton & Susan B. Anthony: Early founders of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. The western states were the 1 st states to give women the right to vote.

The 19 th Amendment WWI helped women gain suffrage because women proved that they were important to their country by selling bonds, working in factories & being nurses in Europe. Nineteenth Amendment: Women’s suffrage passed in time for women to vote in 1920 presidential election.
