IPOD Touch 4G in the Classroom! Katherine Peters For a 1 st & 2 nd Grade Classroom

How it can be beneficial in the classroom. The Ipod touch 4G has many aspects that could make it an asset in the classroom. There are thousands of apps that can be used as educational tools in furthering a child’s education.

Basic Use Just the basic use of the Ipod Touch 4G there is basic internet access for research, video access through youtube, a clock, a calculator, weather reports, and access to music.

Just some of the many Apps

Ways it can be used in the classroom Listening to appropriate music and learning new music to listen to at home. Listening to lessons online about different subjects. Reviewing vocabulary word spelling. Hearing vocabulary words in sentences. Learning how to use the technologies. Listening to stories played during free time. Watching videos on them during free time, making it a reward for good behavior. Countless stories that can be downloaded in written text. Teaching children about responsibility and earning privileges. Practicing addition and subtraction with apps created for math.

More ways…. Learning about and how to use Google Earth with the “Google Earth App”. Beginning of learning words in other languages using language apps, such as Spanish and French. Learning facts about history. Drawing and using graphic design apps. Testing reasoning skills with puzzle apps. Using an app called “molecules” the child can test their science skills after a lesson. Begin work on learning how to do times tables. Practice telling time with the clock on the device. Learn how to figure tips for restaurants. Teaching children to work together to solve problems and puzzles with game apps.

Making learning fun The IPod touch 4G could allow the children to be excited about learning because they are using brand new technologies to do it. The teacher would be responsible for handing them out and collecting them after each use and keeping them locked up in a desk or filing cabinet when not in use.
