Lesson 2.2 Common and Proper Nouns

What do you know? A noun is a person, place, thing, idea. What they are? Proper Nouns: Name a particular person, place or thing, and have capital letters for important words. Common Noun: Do not name a particular person, place or thing and are not capitalized unless used as a name. Examples: George Washington is called the father –not dad- of our country. If he had had children, they would have called their dad, “Dad.” Tampa, Florida is located on the Gulf of Mexico.
