There is an offence that needs to be taken away. There is One who has been offended who needs to be pacified. There is the Offending person, the one who is guilty of the Offence There is a Sacrifice of atonement to be made for that offence.
Lev 16:2, 3 and the LORD said to Moses: "Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat. " Thus Aaron shall come into the Holy Place: with the blood of a young bull as a sin offering, and of a ram as a burnt offering.
Rom 3:25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
