Supplies for German 7 & 8: 25 page protectors each year 1 ½ -2 inch inch binder pens (and pencils) for the year
100 Point Policy INFRACTION POINTS DEDUCTED Sent to time-out, vandalism, profanity, name left by a substitute -25 Discipline problem, acting disrespectfully to peers or teacher, class distraction, chewing gum -10 Late for class without a pass, going to a music lesson without personally informing the German- 5 teacher first, or being unprepared for class (missing any required materials)
GRADING POLICY Grades will be determined by averaging the following: Tests + Quizzes50% Classwork/Projects/Homework35% Late HW receives only partial credit. Participation10% 100 Point Policy 5%
LOTE 8 Students will: Take CFAs (common formative assessments) in November, January, and March. Take a comprehensive mid-term exam in January in the same format as the written final exam - with listening, reading, and writing components. Take the speaking portion of the final exam from April – June Take the listening, reading, and writing portions of their final exam in June. Receive high school credit for passing the exam and the course. Fulfill the NYS graduation requirement in LOTE for passing the exam. Keep their colored note sheets for the high school
LOTE 7 Students will: Take a Comprehensive mid-term exam in January with listening, reading, and writing components. Take the listening/speaking portion of the local final exam in June. Keep all colored notesheets from 7 th Grade for 8 th Grade
1. Review vocabulary from colored notesheet s at least 10 minutes a night 2. Use notesheets to write the homework 3. Bring binder with notesheets and agenda to class every day 4. Check their grades online often (beginning 2 nd semester) 5. Stay AIM to review, catch up, and learn. Students should:
Advanced Designation Diplomas Students must pass the comprehesive, summative exam at the end of 8 th grade to fulfill basic NYS requirements. Students go on to take 2 units of LOTE at the high school (levels B1 and B2) during the freshman and sophomore years. Students pass the exam at the end of the B2 course for an Advanced Designation Diploma.
IB Program Classes exist at both high schools, in all 3 languages, to allow students to complete the requirements for the IB Program.
Extra Activities Oktoberfest for all German 8 students – October 12, 2012 – permission slips coming out tomorrow. German Immersion Day Canisius College in the spring (March) for 8 th graders.
