Universal Healthcare Why we shouldn’t have it.
Intro Universal healthcare entitles Americans to “free” healthcare that is regulated by the government. Which translates to poor quality, higher costs, less personal choice, more lawsuits, and less patient privacy. ontent/uploads/2009/08/universal_healthcare.png
“Free” Free can not be used. Free = taxes and spending cuts Higher taxes for middle and upper class 50 million Americans did not have health insurance in 2006 Illegal immigrants using our money
Quality Mandated procedures means less quality Reduces doctor flexibility Leads to poor service
Rationed Medicines or equipment may be rationed Only given to certain lifestyle or grade of person Govt may regulate if someone needs an organ transplant or pacemaker
Wait Patients may wait months or years Patients will be forced to suffer or die while waiting Most Canadians come to America to receive care
Malpractice lawsuits Malpractice lawsuits will raise. Expose the govt to legal liability The defendant has incentives
Privacy Patient privacy will be lost Due to centralized health info housed by the government Any doctor can see it
A Right Will be considered a right to the public Nearly impossible to remove if becomes too expensive Will surpass defense or social security in cost
In conclusion Universal healthcare is a bad idea because it oppresses Americans in a recession with higher taxes, lessens quality of our overall health, takes away all privacy, and costs the government extensive amounts of money, and rations what you can and cant have.
