Teaching Photogrammetry with PHOTOMOD in the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) Y.Yanniris - Surveyor Eng, MSc, (Distributor in Greece) A.Georgopoulos – NTUA Professor S.Tapinaki – NTUA Ph.D.Candidate E.Tsiligiris – NTUA Ph.D.Candidate

1. The School of Rural & Surveying Engineering of NTUA Contains the Laboratory of Photogrammetry, which offers 6 courses ( 2 compulsory & 4 electives) Compulsory Courses Photogrammetry IPhotogrammetry II Basic principles Photogrammetric measurements Theory of photogrammetric orientations Demonstration of various photogrammetric workstations (including PHOTOMOD) Examples and exercises covering the whole digital photogrammetric procedure using PHOTOMOD 5 th semester6 th semester

2. Photogrammetry II a) PHOTOMOD 4.4 Lite Data given to the students : to be downloaded installed at main server in the GeoInformatics Center installed at PC’s in the Personal Computing Laboratory

3. Photogrammetry II b) Strip of 5 aerial images Data given to the students :

4. Photogrammetry II c) Calibration Certificate of the camera Data given to the students :

5. Photogrammetry II d) Appropriate and adequate already marked GCP’s Data given to the students :

6. Photogrammetry II More than 100 blue-red paper glasses were given out Instructions were written in Greek with the help of PHOTOMOD user manuals

7. Photogrammetry II Five modular exercises 1)Interior, Relative and Absolute orientation 2)Aerial Triangulation 3)Stereo Restitution 4)DTM production (automatically with visual inspection) 5)Orthophoto production Web page :

The site of the Photogrammetric Lab

8. Photogrammetry II Example of solved AT exercise Example of solved StereoDraw exercise

9. Photogrammetry II Example of solved Mosaic exercise

10. Gained Experience The majority of the 100 students completed the exercises in time and without any problems. Students considered the photogrammetric knowledge much more direct since they had the opportunity to apply photogrammetric procedures on their own. PHOTOMOD is an easy-to-learn photogrammetric software due to step-by-step guidance.
