Types of stressors Positive stressors: They help us to improve ourselves, prepare better, and work harder. Example: taking a test Negative stressors: They put us down and make us sad. Example: Bullying

Bullying Bullying is when a person is picked on repeatedly by another person or group. They could do this to hurt you physically.

Bullying Bullying can also happen just to hurt your feelings and this is just as painful.

Bullying Listen to this story on the next slide. Sadly this happens too often. You and I need to make sure we don’t do this to others. We need to put a STOP to it.

Bullying A girl came home from school upset. A classmate had called her names. Told her everyone hated her. Said she couldn’t sit with the others at lunch. The other girls all went along with it. They laughed at her. Guess how old these girls were? They were only 7 years old! Girls can be very mean to other girls at a very young age. What could she do to stop this?

Bad effects of being bullied: 1. Afraid of people. 2. Don’t have friends to play with. 3. You start to feel sick. 4. Don’t do well in school because you can’t focus on school work. 5. Don’t feel good about yourself. 6. Get mad and fight back.

What can you do? You can’t Ignore it. Listen to the tips I will share with you now. Find a healthy way that won’t hurt you or others to express yourself.

Draw A Picture Or Write In A Journal: Helps you express feelings and emotions, such as anger, frustration, sadness, etc. Helps you think about problems and maybe you will find a solution while you write your feelings. Allows time for you to cool down. It Is not destructive. Makes you feel better about yourself.

Dealing with your Emotions : Write a letter to yourself telling yourself that you are NOT the problem, the BULLYING is.

Dealing with your Emotions : Tell yourself all the things you LIKE about yourself.

Dealing with your Emotions : If you use prayer in your culture, this is a great time to pray.

Dealing with your Emotions : Talk to someone to get help with the situation.
